Mrs. Morris retired from the Monmouth County Correctional Institution as the Supervising Investigator with over 26 years’ experience. She was an internal affairs investigator for 8 years; supervising the unit for the last 3 years of her employment. She also has 18 years’ experience as a corrections officer. In Internal affairs she supervised and/or participated in the investigations from initiation through completion. These investigations into allegations included, but were not limited to, drug possession, excessive use of force, sexual assaults, death in custody, etc. Additionally, legal documentation of the investigations and courtroom testimony were routinely required. She has extensive experience throughout the correctional system working several highly specialized assignments which include booking intake/release, and the inmate law library. All of which required exceptional knowledge of the criminal code of the state of New Jersey, as well as the ability to communicate across all components of the criminal justice system. During her years of service as a law enforcement officer she was an active member of PBA Local 240, serving one term on the Executive Board as Treasurer. To date she maintains membership in FOP Lodge 30.
She is a Veteran of the United States Army and holds a, a Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Monmouth University, a Graduate Certificate in Homeland Security from Monmouth University, a Master of Labor and Employment Relations Degree from Rutgers University and a Certified Public Manager Designation from Rutgers University. She is a certified New Jersey Police Training Commission instructor for the Monmouth County Police Academy; and has been an adjunct professor at Monmouth University since 2019, teaching corrections curricula.
Currently, Mrs. Morris is a member of Monmouth County Board of Addiction Services and an alternate community member of the Hackensack Meridian Institutional Review Board. She was past President of the Monmouth and Ocean County Intelligence Bureau, past member of the Board of Directors for NJ Women in Law Enforcement and past secretary for NJ Bias Crimes Officers Association.
